Watched the film True Stories last night as part of Architecture on film season at the Barbican in London. I’m neither a huge Talking Heads fan or very fond of musicals but loved this film. Beautifully shot, some incredible characters and IMHO quite visionary given it was released in 1986 -  the film wasn’t a huge commercial success but I’d thoroughly recommend it – big screen or small. E1-5NW is an art installation in a 1930s Whitechapel mansion block on the corner of Greatorex Road and Old Montague Street in the centre of London’s old textile district. Fortunate to catch the Onedotzero CityStates09 series of shorts at the BFI a couple of week’s back featuring 10 different interpretations of urban dwelling. Stunning digital cinematography and story telling by a super-talented bunch of movie makers. Unfortunately, a friend couldn’t make the screening so I managed to track down most of the films on the web and put them together here (for him and you). Well worth 30 minutes of your time, although lacking the audio-visual experience of  big screen viewing. BTW – the YouTube films are embedded. For the Vimeo ones you need to follow the links below. Watch them, they’re worth it.

First spotted at Mutate Britain – and now I think I’m in love with it.  Such a simple idea so well executed by Tom Hogan - a super bright designer-flash progammer-come-artist. This video shows Erin Wilson in full flow

So many photos and ideas for things to post following my recent trip to NYC – including this photo from a media  exhibition at MOMA, NYC. No hate mail please, when I get a mo I’ll write up the artists’ rationale behind this piece and then you can take it up with him.

This is so cool. I love it.

When you dial the Telemegaphone’s phone number the sound of your voice is projected out across the fjord, the valley and the village of Dale below”. Hurry tho, its only until Sept 6 as that’s when the Deer season starts.
